Students in the health occupations program at the Grundy Area Vocational Center have gathered 712 socks to donate to local nursing homes.

Marleyna Price, Macy Shell and Paityn Valentine, each Morris Community High School seniors in the health occupations program at the GAVC, created the drive because they wanted to provide a bit of the Christmas spirit.

“Me, Paityn and Macy started the program because we knew the nursing was going to want these socks,” Price said. “We made flyers and a poster, posted on social media and through word of mouth and the grapevine, the community saw it and decided to donate.”

The health occupations students wrapped all of the socks on Friday and will spend the day Monday and Tuesday distributing them to local nursing homes.
