Coal City FBLA members attend Central North Area Conference, 14 advance to state

Coal City High School’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America [FBLA] participated in the Central Northern Area Conference last week at Joliet Junior College. Attending were [from left, row one]: Abi Rose, Peyton Gibson, Kylee Kennell, Emerson Koehn, Rese Symons, Adalyn Muhlenbruch, Grace Sitar, Jesse Henke, Corrina Barkley, and Lilly Feisley. Coal City High School’s Future Business Leaders of America attended the Central Northern Area Conference at JJC Friday, Dec. 13.

17 members of the chapter competed in different events consisting of tests, presentations and interviews, and 14 members earned first or second place finishes. These students have secured a spot in the state FBLA competition in Spring 2025.

Earning a first place were Grace Sitar, Introduction to Event Planning; Corinna Barkley and Lilly Feisley, Public Service Announcement; Mason Hamilton and Gaven Vestal, Sports and Entertainment Management, and Kylee Kennell and Payton Gibson, Sales Presentation.

Earning second place were Jessie Henke, Agribusiness; Emerson Koehn, Adalyn Muhlenbruch and Rese Symons, Introduction to Business Presentation, and HaydenKennell, Fuzzy Hamilton and Patrick Osipavicius, Introduction to Social Media Strategy.

Hunter Pedigo competed in Job Interview and finished in third place. Mason Hamilton and Hunter Pedigo participated in the Battle of the Chapters.

Advisor Harlan Kennell said the students hope to carry the momentum into the State Leadership Conference in April.
