The Morris Community High School Education Foundation inducted six new members into its Hall of Distinction before the varsity boys' basketball game vs. LaSalle-Peru on Friday.

The inductees were Kim DesLauriers from Immaculate Conception School, Col. William Fruland, former school board member and Morris Football Club President Jim Feeney, musician Delight Belt, and former Major League Baseball players Ed and Scott Spiezio.

Foundation Secretary J.C. Lawson said there are 21 members of the Hall of Distinction.

“You will see in the main hallway, each establishing their achievements of past students and community members who have accomplished great things ,both in the classroom, in these hallways, on the sports fields, as well as outside the walls of the high school,” Lawson said.

Friday night’s induction added six more members, bringing the total members to 27.

The inductees were introduced by Morris Community High School students Julia Borgstrom, Brodie Peterson, Cameron Raymer, Bergen Paulson, Elise Knudson and Connor Ahearn.

Lawson said the Morris Community High School Education Foundation started in 2015 as a non-profit organization to fundraise money that supports students and staff. It targets non-traditional opportunities that might not have been available otherwise, providing grants, scholarships and fund projects. The organization has fundraised over $80,000 and donated back over $50,000 back for those programs.
