A man was flown to a hospital after suffering a serious chest wound late Monday morning in Woodstock, said Alex Vucha, public information officer for the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.
The Fire/Rescue District responded to a call to the Woodstock Shell gas station, 110 N. Eastwood Drive, about 11:15 a.m. Monday.
When they arrived, paramedics found a man outside the building with a “serious chest laceration, reportedly caused by a knife,” Vucha said in a news release. Paramedics determined the man was in critical condition and quickly requested a medical helicopter.
The man was taken to the Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital and later flown to Javon Bea Hospital- Riverside in Rockford.
A person is in custody after Woodstock police were called to the scene, according to an alert sent out by the city about 1:30 p.m. Monday.
Officials said police were called to the 100 block of Eastwood Drive about 11:30 a.m. Monday. “in regard to a male subject with a possible wound to his chest from a battery,” according to the alert.
One person was detained, and police officers and detectives are investigating the incident, according to the alert.
It’s an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community, according to the alert.
