‘Heavy police activity’ in Crystal Lake residential area

Crystal Lake authorities reported “heavy police activity” in a residential area Wednesday night.

Authorities sent out an alert at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday warning of the police presence in the 100 block of Heather Drive, a few blocks west of the community’s namesake lake and near West Elementary School.

“There is no public safety threat,” the alert states.

Police advised people to avoid the area until further notice.
