‘Heavy police activity’ in Crystal Lake residential area

Crystal Lake authorities reported “heavy police activity” in a residential area Wednesday night.

Authorities sent out an alert at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday warning of the police presence in the 100 block of Heather Drive, a few blocks west of the community’s namesake lake and near West Elementary School.

“There is no public safety threat,” according to the alert.

Police had advised people to avoid the area until further notice. The alert was canceled about 9 p.m. Wednesday.
