Rileigh Gaddini leads Alden-Hebron past Hiawatha: Thursday’s Northwest Herald

Girls basketball:

Alden-Hebron 57, Hiawatha 15: At Hebron, senior guard Rileigh Gaddini scored 23 points to lead the Lady Giants in the nonconference game.

Freshmen Hayden Smith and Teagan Vanderstappen added 14 and eight points, respectively, for Alden-Hebron (2-6), which led 17-0 after one quarter. Smith hit two 3-pointers. Senior Olivia Klein scored all five of her points, including a 3, in the fourth quarter for the hosts.

Marengo 49, Prairie Ridge 18: At McHenry, Emilie Polizzi and Macy Noe each scored nine points to lead a balanced attack for the Indians in the two teams’ Northern Illinois Holiday Classic finale.

Maggie Hanson and Mia Feidt each had seven points for Marengo (8-4). Polizzi and Hanson made two 3-pointers apiece.

Prairie Ridge (4-9) received six points from Maia Cassin, who made two 3-pointers.

Larkin 57, McHenry 36: At McHenry, the Warriors lost their final game in their own Northern Illinois Holiday Classic.

Maritza Martinez had 15 points for McHenry (2-12), and Gaby Grasser added 13.

Boys wrestling

Prairie Ridge 51, Burlington Central 21: At Crystal Lake, the Wolves got pins from Tymen Robinson (106 pounds), Jake Lowitzki (120), Christian Pease (138), Matt Moritz (150) and Walter Pollack (285) in the Fox Valley Conference match.

Maximo Martinez (215) recorded a technical fall for the Wolves, and Shaun Brewis (165) had a major decision.

Burlington Central got pins from Daniel O`Connor (113) and Samvir Devinenl (157).

Huntley 63, Crystal Lake South 15: At Huntley, the FVC-leading Red Raiders improved to 10-2 and 4-0 in the conference.

Richmond-Burton 60, Woodstock North 15: At Woodstock, the Rockets received pins from Dalton Youngs (150), Dylan Falasca (165) and Breckin Campbell (190).

R-B won seven matches by forfeit.

Woodstock North got its three wins in succession. Anthony Motejzik (120) and Nathan Oginski (126) had pins, and Brayden Sobczak (132) won by decision.

Richmond-Burton 55, Woodstock 18: At Woodstock, Lelan Nelson (113), Emmett Nelson (157), Blake Livdahl (175), Shane Falasca (215) and Colin Kraus (285) all won by fall for the Rockets.

Woodstock won three matches by forfeit.
