Property owners can take advantage of the McHenry County Treasurer’s Office’s Advance Tax Program through the end of the year, which allows pre-payment toward next year’s property taxes.

Through Dec. 31, taxpayers can make a down payment on their tax bills due in 2025. Participating property owners must fill out and sign the Advance Tax Agreement, and return it to the treasurer’s office with a check payable to the McHenry County Collector. A separate check and agreement are required for each parcel. The tax agreement can be found under “advance tax” at mchenrycountyil.gov/departments/treasurer/tax-programs-benefiting-you.

Treasurer Donna Kurtz said in a news release that the program is entirely voluntary, “but it may be beneficial for some taxpayers depending on their financial situations or personal objectives.”

Payments can be made in person or mailed, with address reading McHenry County Collector, 2200 N. Seminary Ave. Woodstock, IL 60098, ATTN: Karla Mejia. Mailed payments must be received by Dec. 31, not just postmarked by then. For information, call the treasurer’s office at 815-334-4260.
