Man killed in head-on crash Friday near Wonder Lake

A man was killed Friday in a head-on crash near Wonder Lake, local fire protection district Chief Mike Weber said.

Weber said the crash happened on Barnard Mill Road north of Summit Drive. The road was wet, and one car crossed the center line and hit another car head-on, he said.

A Wonder Lake ambulance came across the crash, Weber said. A man was trapped in one of the cars, and first responders found him unresponsive, Weber said. The McHenry County Coroner’s Office was called, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the fire chief said. The man has not been identified.

The man driving the other vehicle, a white pickup truck, was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital, Weber said.

Barnard Mill Road was closed from about 12:30 to 3:15 p.m.
