Mercyhealth is opening a new memory care and dementia outpatient clinic at its Crystal Lake hospital, 875 S. Route 31, the health system announced in a news release Thursday.
The clinic will emphasize “state-of-the art treatment for dementia and memory care” and help connect caregivers to community resources.
Dr. Amarish Davé, medical director for the Mercyhealth memory and dementia clinic and Mercyhealth’s associate medical director, will lead the clinic, according to the release.
Davé said there’s a need for the clinic in the community. He also plans to start caregiver meetups through the clinic but noted it was open to everyone, not just patients of his. The first one is scheduled for Feb. 19.
He said he’s also working to create a network for shared caregiving.
“I believe in taking a holistic approach to memory loss, combining the latest diagnostic and treatment options along with nonmedication data-driven interventions to slow down the progression of the memory loss,” Davé said in the release.
Davé has a medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, according to the release. He completed his internal medicine residency at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and his neurology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, according to the release.
MercyHealth also plans to offer additional office hours for clinical dementia and memory care at Mercyhealth’s Woodstock clinic, 2200 Lake Ave., according to the release.
