The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office released new details Monday about a Harvard-area crash that occurred Friday evening and caused critical injuries to the driver.
Officials in the sheriff’s office said in Monday news release that their preliminary investigation showed a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on Route 14, exited the road to the west and then overcorrected, causing the truck to travel across the road and exit to the east.
The truck kept traveling across a yard and came to rest on its side, according to the sheriff’s office. The driver, who was taken to Javon Bea Hospital-Riverside in Rockford in critical condition, was ejected from the car.
Airbags didn’t deploy, and the driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff’s office.
The driver was identified by police as a 39-year-old Harvard man. He was not named.
