Woodstock school orchestra director named among 50 music teachers in the U.S. who ‘make a difference’

Woodstock High School and Creekside Middle School orchestra director Lyndra Bastian has been included in School Band and Orchestra magazine’s annual “50 Music Teachers Who Make a Difference” feature.

Bastian has taught in Woodstock School District 200 since 2013. The magazine, also known as SBO+, honored Bastian for her innovative approach to music education and her commitment to creating meaningful, inclusive musical experiences for her students.

Woodstock High School and Creekside Middle School orchestra director Lyndra Bastian has been included in School Band and Orchestra Magazine’s annual “50 Music Teachers Who Make a Difference” feature.

“When I was informed that I had been selected for this, I was both shocked and deeply grateful to those who felt I was worthy of being nominated,” Bastian said in a news release from District 200.

She’s credited with creating opportunities for students to perform with renowned string groups and establishing the special education orchestra United Sound.
