Gaby Dzik’s buzzer-beater lifts Crystal Lake South: Monday’s Northwest Herald sports roundup

Crystal Lake South 44, Grayslake North 42: At Crystal Lake, Gaby Dzik beat the buzzer to lift the Gators to the nonconference win. Dzik led South with 15 points. Laken LePage added 11 and Makena Cleary had nine for the Gators.

Prairie Ridge 56, Woodstock 40: At Crystal Lake, Zoe Nanos scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Wolves to the nonconference win. Maia Cassin added 17 for Prairie Ridge. Lily Novelle had 12 points to lead Woodstock.

Johnsburg 49, Harvard 31: At Harvard, the Skyhawks picked up their 10th win of the season with a Kishwaukee River Conference win over the Hornets. Skye Toussaint had 17 points, Summer Toussaint had 10 and Kimmy Whitlock and Carlie Majercik each had six.

Ava Peneciak led Harvard with nine points.

Durand 48, Alden-Hebron 39: At Hebron, Rileigh Gaddini scored 14 points as the Giants fell in a nonconference contest. Marissa Johnson added 10 points for A-H.

Byron 51, Marengo 25: At Byron, Mia Feidt hit a pair of 3-pointers on her way to 16 points to lead the Indians in a nonconference game. Emilie Polizzi added six points.

Boys basketball

Marian Central Catholic 74, Durand 39: At Woodstock, Finn Pivnicka and Adam Wrzos scored 16 points each to lead the Hurricanes in a nonconference game. Stef Stojich added 10 points for Marian.

Burlington Central 72, Freeport 53: At Freeport, the Rockets won their third game in a row with a nonconference romp over the Pretzels.

Larkin 68, Prairie Ridge 59: At Elgin, the Wolves fell to the Royals in a nonconference contest.

Girls wrestling

Grayslake North Scramble: At Grayslake, Dundee-Crown’s Diamond Rodriguez (100-105 pounds), Mackenzie Lessner (155) and Caroline Haiges (235) each placed first at the 10-team meet.

Eva Hermansson (110) finished for Woodstock.

Boys bowling

Antioch 3,412, Johnsburg 2,987: At Antioch Lanes, Matt Kurek had the top series for Johnsburg with a 552. Luke Bowers rolled a top game of 235 for Johnsburg.

Girls bowling

Huntley 3,044, McHenry 1,718: At Raymond’s Bowl in Johnsburg, Erica DeBello had the top series (609) and game (217) to lead the Red Raiders in the Fox Valley/Kishwaukee River Conference contest. Annabelle Weinreis led McHenry with a 458 series.

Harvard 2,206, Johnsburg 1,271: At Raymond’s Bowl in Johnsburg, Macie Norgard led the Hornets with a 435 series. Julia McCue rolled a 490 for the Skyhawks.

Marengo 2,818, Woodstock 2,543: At Glo-Bowl in Marengo, Callie Walters led Marengo with a single game of 224 and a series of 563 in the FVC/KRC contest. Torin Deacon had the top series of the match with a 597 for Woodstock.
