No injuries were reported after a fire left a home uninhabitable Tuesday night near McHenry, officials report.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to a call about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday to the 5900 block of Fox Lake Road for a reported structure fire. First responders arrived within seven minutes to a one-story house with “flames visible from the rear of the home,” according to a McHenry Township Fire Protection District news release.
All residents were out of the home when firefighters arrived. Firefighters suppressed the fire with hose lines from the rear of the home and into the inside. Water was shuttled to the scene due to lack of fire hydrants while a live downed power line near the back of the home hampered crews, according to the release.
The fire was brought under control within 35 minutes, according to the release. No injuries were reported from residents or firefighters and the home is deemed uninhabitable.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District is investigating the fire and a damage estimate is not yet available, according to the release.
Fire protection districts from Round Lake, Spring Grove and Wonder Lake assisted at the scene while fire departments from Richmond, Cary, Nunda, Crystal Lake, Antioch and Wauconda covered the McHenry stations during the call.
