Woodstock man pleads guilty to Class X felony cocaine charge, gets 8 years in prison

A Woodstock man has been sentenced to eight years in prison in a plea deal after he was charged with possessing with intent to deliver over 12 ounces of cocaine.

Carlos Juarez, 27, of the 800 block of East South Street, Woodstock, entered a guilty plea Tuesday before Judge Tiffany Davis to one count of possession with an intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams of cocaine, a Class X felony, court records show.

Juarez was also must pay $10,815, including a $5,000 fine along with other fees and assessments, according to court documents. In exchange for the plea, three other drug charges were dropped.

The drug charges were filed nearly three years ago, in April 2022. Prosecutors said police found more than 350 grams of cocaine, 130 grams of marijuana, three firearms, numerous digital scales and packaging and $4,711 in cash between Juarez’s apartment and car, court records show.

Juarez was originally charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver between 100 and 400 grams of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver 30 to 500 grams of marijuana and possession of 100 to 500 grams of marijuana, according to the criminal complaint filed in McHenry County in 2022.
