A Chicago man has been sentenced to nine years in prison in a plea deal after he was charged with possessing multiple drugs at a Crystal Lake motel last year.
Michael R. Mantor, 49, entered a guilty plea Wednesday before Judge Tiffany Davis to one count of possession with the intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams of cocaine, a Class X felony.
In exchange for the drug offense plea, seven charges were dropped, including another Class X felony of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl.
Mantor and Bryce K. Casper, of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, were arrested in January 2024 at a Super 8 Motel in Crystal Lake and hit with multiple drug charges involving large amounts of cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and psilocybin, according to McHenry County criminal complaints and police.
Casper pleaded guilty in April to possession of 15 to 100 grams of cocaine and was sentenced to 50 hours of public service and two years of probation, according to court documents.
At the time of his arrest last year, Mantor was on pretrial release on other drug-related charges from the previous July. All of Mantor’s 2023 charges were dropped, including three Class X felony charges of possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Mantor and Jonathan B. Sawyer, of Round Lake Beach, were arrested July 2023 in McHenry and charged with possessing methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl, according to court documents.
Sawyer entered a negotiated guilty plea of possessing 15 to 100 grams of cocaine Wednesday and is scheduled for sentencing Feb. 26, according to court documents.
