Local Trump supporters celebrate his return to White House

McHenry County-area supporters of President Donald Trump celebrated the inauguration Monday at Niko’s Grill and Pub near Marengo.

The McHenry County Republican Party put on a Trump victory celebration Monday evening that featured a Trump selfie wall and the opportunity to buy MAGA merchandise.

Attendees cheered as they watched on TV as President Trump signed executive orders Monday evening, hours after taking the oath of office.

McHenry County Board Chair Mike Buehler said it was an “exciting day for America” and it was a welcome change, especially on border security and economic development.

Deeply divided attitudes toward the president were apparent Monday, with protests in cities including Chicago.
