A 19-year-old Wisconsin man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in a plea deal after he was charged with armed robbery of a gas station in Woodstock as a minor.
Rosendo Pacheco, 19, of Beloit, Wisconsin, entered a guilty plea Friday before Judge Mark Gerhardt to one count of armed robbery, a Class X felony. In exchange for the guilty plea, nine other charges were dropped.
Pacheco originally was charged with armed robbery with a firearm, armed robbery, aggravated robbery, burglary, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, five counts of aggravated use of a weapon and retail theft of property worth less than $300, according to the original indictment.
Pacheco was a minor at the time and 18 years old when he was tried as an adult. He has been detained in the county jail since September 2023, according to court records.
According to the original complaint, Pacheco and two others who were minors at the time robbed the Circle K gas station in Woodstock on July 10, 2022, and stole “various e-cigarettes.” The original complaint alleged that Pacheco was armed with a gun and “placed a handgun to the head” of the store clerk.
Ray Castro, 20, of Janesville, Wisconsin, also was charged as an adult in 2023 with armed robbery, aggravated robbery, burglary, two counts of aggravated use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm. Those charges were dropped in March. The other alleged offender is unknown.
