Carpentersville native Bradie Tennell, a two-time U.S. champion, finished fourth at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships Friday night in Wichita, Kansas.

Tennell was in second place after Thursday’s short program and took fourth in the free skate Friday to finish fourth overall with a score of 199.94

Amber Glenn defended her title as the U.S. champion with a 216.79, landing a triple axel and holding off Alysa Liu (215.33), a two-time national champ who was in first after Thursday’s short program.

Brooke Gewalt, a 2022 McHenry graduate, placed 14th with a score of 147.69. Gewalt also was in 14th after Thursday’s short program.

Tennell, 26, was unable to gain any ground in the standings on the final day of competition. She was passed by Sarah Everhardt for third after struggling through a fall on her triple Lutz.

Tennell won the U.S. title in 2018 and 2021, took silver in 2019 and 2023 and bronze in 2020.

The decorated skater has been hobbled with foot and ankle injuries over the years, missing the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. She competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang and was a team event bronze medalist.
