Letter to the Editor

Happy New Year.

While we are going through the arctic freeze, which I wish would stay in the arctic, 2025 hopefully will shine with the brightness of unity and peace for all.

I support Northwest Herald’s decision to keep letters toward the community instead of national. For one because of the climate out there ... politically.

Besides I’ve always believed regardless of my world views, the communities make the cities and the cities make the state. Federal is needed only for natural disasters.

But you and I, we care for the community. The city upon our hill is the community that shines upon it. Marengo and many in McHenry County are just a few.

The Land of Lincoln is who we are in Illinois and we stand firm to its promises of being malice towards none but charity for all.

Can’t wait to see the new flag Illinois is proposing. Abraham Lincoln certainly needs to be on it. I voted for that one.

But finally, the Bears have a new head coach and WE HOPE this guy will steer the team out of the bad drought they are in. Good luck Ben Johnson.

To Marengo, the Christmas community tree looked nice this past holiday. Keep it up.

Until then stay warm. Groundhog Day is coming (Woodstock) and hopefully Phil will come out and declare early spring.

Unless the arctic air hangs around. God bless.

Bob DeLacy Jr.
