Woodstock North boys basketball scores big in win over Marengo: Tuesday’s Northwest Herald sports roundup

Woodstock North 72, Marengo 52: At Marengo, the Thunder put up a season high in points and snapped a three-game losing streak in the Kishwaukee River Conference. Colin Brodzik led North (3-14, 3-4 KRC) with 22 points and Ethan Richardson added 15 for the Thunder.

Michael Kirchhoff led Marengo (4-20, 2-6) with 11 points.

Hampshire 67, Huntley 59: At Hampshire, Ryan Prowicz scored seven of his team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Whip-Purs to the Fox Valley Conference win. Jaden Nelsen added 12 points and Cole Harkin tallied 10 for Hampshire (8-15, 3-8).

Logan Darragh scored 14 of his game-high 22 points in the first quarter for Huntley (9-13, 4-7).

Cary-Grove 65, Dundee-Crown 52: At Carpentersville, Adam Bauer and AJ Berndt scored 20 points apiece as the Trojans (15-9, 5-6) beat the Chargers in an FVC game.

McHenry 75, Crystal Lake Central 41: At Crystal Lake, Caleb Jett scored 24 of his game-high 30 points in the first half as the Warriors rolled past the Tigers in an FVC matchup.

Conner McLean added 10 points for McHenry (19-2, 11-0). Bud Shanahan had 14 to lead Central (6-17, 1-10).

Prairie Ridge 54, Jacobs 28: At Algonquin, the Wolves (8-16. 4-7 FVC) upset the Golden Eagles in an FVC contest. Jacobs fell to 13-9 and 5-6 in the FVC.

Big Foot (Wis.) 67, Harvard 65: At Harvard, the Hornets fell in a nonconference contest to the Chiefs.

Girls basketball

Richmond-Burton 63, Alden-Hebron 42: At Richmond, Matilda Furzland scored 15 points as the Rockets won the nonconference game and ended a seven-game losing streak.

Meadow Rosendahl added 12 points for R-B (6-14). Raileigh Gaddini led A-H (3-13) with 16 points.

Byron 43, Johnsburg 27: At Byron, the Skyhawks fell to the Tigers in a nonconference dual. Duke Mays, Kai Surdick, Chase Vogel, Micah Klos and Kainoa Ancog were winners for Johnsburg,

Byron 75, Harvard 5: At Harvard. Christian Mercado won by technical fall for the lone Hornets win.
