Huntley girls basketball stays undefeated with win over Hampshire: Wednesday’s Northwest Herald sports roundup

Huntley 51, Hampshire 23: At Hampshire, Paula Strzelecki scored 21 points to help the Red Raiders beat the Whip-Purs in Fox Valley Conference play and stay undefeated. Anna Campanelli added 11 points for Huntley (24-0, 11-0) while Isabella Boskey and Ava McFadden each scored six points.

Mikala Amegasse led Hampshire (11-12, 7-4) with 11 points.

Prairie Ridge 51, Jacobs 42: At Algonquin, Maia Cassin knocked in 16 points to help the Wolves snap a three-game losing streak in their FVC game. Bella Militello added 14 points for Prairie Ridge (9-12, 5-6) while Zoe Nanos had eight points.

Olivia Schuster led the Golden Eagles (7-15, 4-7) with 14 points while Briana Ramsey had nine points.

Crystal Lake Central 40, McHenry 13: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers won their ninth straight game behind 19 points from Ruby Macke. Hadley Ferrero added nine points for Central, which improved to 16-6 and 8-3 in the FVC.

Lucy Jones led the Warriors (3-20, 0-11) with four points.

Cary-Grove 52, Dundee-Crown 12: At Carpentersville, Ellie Mjaanes scored 15 points to get the Trojans back in the win column in their FVC game. Kennedy Manning added 11 points for C-G (16-7, 9-2) while Alivia Nielsen, Avery Stortz, Avery Hoffman and Sam Skerl each added five points.

Skyler Noe and Cecilia Ochs each scored three points for the Chargers (2-22, 1-10).

Burlington Central 53, Crystal Lake South 48: At Crystal Lake, the Rockets (6-17, 4-8) beats the Gators (12-11, 6-5) in FVC play.

Woodstock 61, Richmond-Burton 53: At Richmond, Keira Bogott led Woodstock with 17 points to pick up a Kishwaukee River Conference win. Patti Cygan added 15 points for the Blue Streaks (12-12, 5-5) and Lily Novelle had nine points.

Meadow Rosendahl finished with 19 points for the Rockets (5-15, 0-8) while Matilda Furzland had 13.

Woodstock North 40, Johnsburg 35: At Johnsburg, the Thunder (5-15, 3-6) snapped a three-game losing streak in KRC action.

Summer Toussaint led the Skyhawks (16-9, 6-2) with 13 points and Skye Touissant added eight.

Sandwich 59, Harvard 24: At Harvard, Summer Jones knocked in 11 points while Jackie Silva added five points in a loss for the Hornets (12-12, 3-8).

Rockford Auburn 56, Marian Central 47: At Rockford, Juliette Huff tallied 25 points but the Hurricanes (12-12) snapped their four-game winning streak in the nonconference game. Adriana Wrzos added nine points with 13 rebounds and Abbey Miner had nine points with seven assists.

Earlville 47, Alden-Hebron 21: At Earlville, the Giants (3-14) couldn’t pick up a win on the road.

Boys basketball

Richmond-Burton 66, Genoa-Kingston 41: At Genoa, Luke Robison knocked in 26 points to lead the Rockets to a nonconference win on the road. Gavin Radmer finished with 18 points for R-B (15-7) and Landon Nelson added five points.
