IHSA State Finals: At St. Clair Bowl in O’Fallon, Huntley’s Noah Waters sits in eighth after the first day with a 1,346 six-game series. Rolling Meadows’ Jayden Ramel (1,402) is the Day 1 leader.

Huntley is in ninth out of 24 teams with a score of 6,014. The top 12 teams moved on to Day 2. Austin Tenglin (1,212), Matthew Fishman (1,184), Landen Conforti (1,152) and Joey Humphrey (1,120) also contributed to the Red Raiders’ score.

Jacobs’ Brett Biondo (1,315) is in 15th with a 1,314 six-game series. Woodstock co-op’s Max Haggerty (1,232) is in 51st.

Girls bowling

Fox Valley/Kishwaukee River Conference Tournament: At Kingston Lanes in Woodstock, Huntley claimed the 10-team championship with a score of 5,316, led by Erica DeBello’s 1,300 six-game series, which was the top score overall. DeBello was named FVC/KRC Girls Bowler of the Year.

Marengo (4,998) took runner-up, Woodstock co-op (4,730) was third, Jacobs co-op (4,424) was fourth and Dundee-Crown (4,342) was fifth. Harvard (4,040) was sixth, followed by Burlington Central (3,978), McHenry (3,681), Plano (3,427) and Johnsburg (3,330)

Harvard’s Yorky Mercardo took second individually with a 1,141 series and posted the high game of the tournament with a 258. McHenry’s Emily Carpenter (1,136) finished third, Marengo’s Krystal Macias (1,133) was fourth and Huntley’s Pria Waters (1,106) was fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 were Huntley’s Ashley Tenglin (sixth place, 1,093), Woodstock’s Ava Caldwell (seventh, 1,046), D-C’s Isabello Bratko (eighth, 1,040), Woodstock’s Torin Deacon (ninth, 1,019) and Marengo’s Gabriella Magrini (10th, 1,016).

Girls basketball

Crystal Lake Central 67, Prairie Ridge 44: At Crystal Lake, junior forward Ruby Macke poured in a career-high 43 points to lead the visiting Tigers (17-6, 9-3) past the Wolves (9-13, 5-7) in their Fox Valley Conference game. The victory was Central’s 10th in a row.

Macke had 18 field goals and made 7 of 9 free throws. She had 10 or more points in all four quarters. Leah Spychala posted 13 points and Hadley Ferrero had eight for Central.

Zoe Nanos had 14 points to lead Prairie Ridge. Maia Cassin had 11 points and three 3s.

Huntley 66, Jacobs 18: At Algonquin, the Red Raiders (25-0, 12-0) continued their perfect season with an FVC win over the Golden Eagles (8-16, 4-8). Aubrina Adamik led Huntley with 17 points and three 3s. Anna Campanelli tallied 13 points, Paula Strzelecki had nine and Evie Freundt added eight.

Zara Lewis scored nine points for Jacobs.

Cary-Grove 49, Hampshire 21: At Cary, Ellie Mjaanes had 16 points and Malaina Kurth chipped in 14 for the Trojans (17-7, 11-2) in their FVC win against the Whip-Purs (11-13, 7-5). Sam Skerl scored eight points.

Hampshire was led by Chloe Van Horn and Mikala Amegasse with seven points apiece.

Crystal Lake South 61, McHenry 30: At Crystal Lake, Gaby Dzik (18 points) and Makena Cleary (16 points) both made four 3-pointers for the Gators (13-11, 7-5) in an FVC win against the Warriors (3-21, 0-12). Laken LePage posted 13 points and two 3s for South.

Avery Stinger had 10 points to pace McHenry. Maritza Martinez had eight.

Burlington Central 64, Dundee-Crown 25: At Carpentersville, the Rockets (7-17, 5-8) earned an FVC victory against the Chargers (2-23, 1-11).

Alden-Hebron 56, Westminster Christian 20: At Hebron, Hayden Smith tallied a career-high 21 points for the Giants (4-14, 2-6) in a Northeastern Athletic Conference victory.

Boys basketball

Woodstock 53, Marengo 49: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks (15-9, 7-2) held on for a Kishwaukee River Conference win against the Indians (4-20, 2-6). Collin Grenlee had 21 points and five 3s to lead Woodstock. Joey Nitz had 14 points and four 3s and Max Beard chipped in nine points and eight rebounds.

Michael Kirchoff had 16 points to lead Marengo. Derek Bibbings added 10 and Ollie Nichols had eight points and two 3s.

Huntley 61, Jacobs 58: At Jacobs, Christian Wilson scored 22 points to lead the Raiders (10-13, 5-7) past the Golden Eagles (13-10, 5-7) in the FVC game. Sheldon Bonsu (six rebounds, three assists) and Aidan Larson both had eight points.

Hampshire 39, Cary-Grove 38: At Cary, the Whip-Purs (9-15, 4-8) outlasted the Trojans (15-9, 5-7) in a low-scoring FVC contest. Sean Roth scored 11 points and made two 3s for Hampshire, Ryan Prowicz had 10 points and two 3s and Evan Wurtz tossed in nine points.

Burlington Central 61, Dundee-Crown 49: At Carpentersville, the Rockets improved to 18-7 overall and 9-3 in the FVC with a win against the Chargers (10-11, 4-8).

Prairie Ridge 50, Crystal Lake Central 48: At Crystal Lake, the visiting Wolves (9-16, 5-7) came out on top in an FVC win over the Tigers (6-18, 1-11).

Plano 72, Woodstock North 44: At Plano, the Thunder (2-15, 2-5) fell to the Reapers in their KRC game.

Boys wrestling

Prairie Ridge 46, Glenbard South 28: At Glen Ellyn, Yoni Bueno (113 pounds), Jake Lowitzki (120), Mikey Meade (126), Matt Moritz (150), Teddy Instefjord (157), Aiden Rodriguez (175), Frank Matviychuk (190) and Walter Pollack (285) all picked up wins for the Wolves.

Glenbard South 57, Harvard 20: At Glen Ellyn, Joseph Berkholtz (113), Leeland Sanchez (157) and Kevin Salas (190) scored wins for the Hornets in a nonconference loss to the Raiders.
