Crystal Lake Food Pantry announces new executive director

The Crystal Lake Food Pantry has announced the appointment of Jason Weisenberger as its executive director. A lifelong resident of McHenry County, Weisenberger co-owns The Breakers Restaurant in Crystal Lake with his wife, Arienne, and has 30 years of management experience at grocery chains like Jewel, Walmart and Meijer.

Weisenberger led a fundraising team while at Walmart for Lurie Children’s Hospital and has also worked with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to secure food donations from his places of employment, according to a food pantry news release. Additionally, he was the vice president of McHenry County Police Charities for 10 years. He and his wife have a blended family of 10 and have lived in Crystal Lake for 14 years.

The Crystal Lake Food Pantry serves the greater Crystal Lake community and is always in need of donations of food or money to help local residents in need and, according to the release, to continue its mission that “No One Should Go Hungry!” Donations can be dropped off at the CLFP at 42 East Street, Crystal Lake.
