Boys wrestling
Class 3A Hononegah Regional: At Rockton, Huntley took second with 215 points to host Hononegah (259½) and advanced 12 to next weekend’s Barrington Sectional. Hampshire (115½) was third and Jacobs (114½) was fourth. The top three wrestlers in each weight class qualified for sectionals.
For the Raiders, Colin Abordo (113 pounds), Matt Keaty (144), Radic Dvorak (157) and Wyatt Theobald (215) all won regional titles. Julian Gutierrez (126), Alexander Gutierrez (132), Gavin Nischke (138) and Jesse Lovell (190) took second, and Cael Saldana (106), Cameron Abordo (120), Lucas Bittman (165) and Alex Vega (175) were third to advance.
Hampshire’s Chris Napiorkowski (150), Aidan Rowells (175) and Knox Homola (285) all finished in second. Deegan Kirschke (113), Michael Brannigan (157) and Uriah Beamon (190) finished third to move on.
Jacobs’ Ben Arbotante won the 126-pound championship, Enrique Garcia (120), Nathan Gomez (144), Jonathan Strauss (165) and Lucas Retzler (215) placed second, and Max Garcia (285) was third.
Class 3A Dundee-Crown Regional: At Carpentersville, D-C’s Teigen Moreno placed second at 215 pounds, and Chris Gerardo (132), Jadon Wheatley (150), Zach Anderson (190) and Roy Ramirez (285) finished third to move on to the Barrington Sectional.
Dundee-Crown finished fifth with 86½ points. Barrington won the team title with 216.
Class 3A Grant Regional: At Fox Lake, McHenry was sixth in the eight-team meet with 59 points. Grant won away with the title with 229½ points.
Ryan Hanson won the 132-pound title for the Warriors, while Myles Wagner (150) and Aiden Schuldt (165) each took second to also advance to the Barrington Sectional.
Class 2A Rockford East Regional: At Rockford, Burlington Central advanced seven to next weekend’s Washington Sectional and placed third as a team with 127½ points.
Sycamore won the eight-team title with 205½ points. Woodstock (115½) was fourth, Harvard (52) was sixth and Woodstock North (28) was eighth.
Michael Junitz was first at 190 pounds for Central. Oscar Nelson (106), Eduardo Vences (113) and Austin Lee (132) took second. David Wyruchowski (120), Cole McGuire (144) and Jonah Chavez (175) were third.
Woodstock’s Taqi Baker (126), Gabe Sarnella (150) and Logan Wisner (157) took runner-up. Landyn White (138), Ayden Dobler (165) and Everett Flannery (285) finished third to move on.
Harvard’s Kevin Salas took second at 190 pounds. Leeland Sanchez (157) finished third.
Woodstock North’s David Randecker won the 215-pound championship.
Girls bowling
Kaneland Regional: At Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb, Huntley finished fourth with a total of 5,475 pins to advance to next week’s Oregon Sectional at Plum Hollow Family Center in Dixon. Yorkville won the team title with a 5,676. Burlington Central (4,217) took 10th.
Huntley was led by Erica DeBello with a 1,248 six-game series, which was good for third place overall. DeBello was only 18 pins from first-place finisher Mya Moore (1,266) of Metea Valley.
Ashlyn Tenglin (13th) had a 1,162 series for Huntley, Pria Waters (23rd) had a 1,086 and Katie Scaletta (28th) had a 1,014.
Belvidere North Regional: At Forest Hills Lanes in Loves Park, Marengo took fourth with a total of 5,005 pins to advance to the Oregon Sectional. Harlem won the regional championship with a 5,911. Harvard (4,004) took eighth.
Marengo was led by Payton Coffman with a 1,065 series and Kayla Miller with a 1,064. Krystal Macias posted a 1,005 series, Callie Waters added a 960 and Gabriella Magrini had a 911.
Harvard’s Sophia Sandoval advanced to sectionals as an individual with a 967.
Dundee-Crown Regional: At Liberty Lanes in Carpentersville, Dundee-Crown placed 10th with a grand total of 4,327 and did not advance any individuals. Lilly Gifford had a 895 to lead D-C, followed by Isabella Bratko (888), Evelyn Linden (862) and Reagan Martin (858).
Girls basketball
Marengo 50, Johnsburg 45: At Johnsburg, Maggie Hanson scored a career-high 23 points and knocked in four 3s as the Indians (16-12, 11-1) held off the Skyhawks (18-11, 8-4) for a KRC victory. Gabby Gieseke added eight points and two 3s for Marengo.
Johnsburg was led by Summer and Skye Toussaint with 13 points apiece. Lauren McQuiston had eight points.
Marian Central 61, Chicago Hope Academy 44: At Chicago Christian in Palos Heights, Juliette Huff scored 22 points to lead the Hurricanes (15-15) to a win in the third-place game of the Chicagoland Christian Conference Tournament. Adriana Wrzos had 15 points and Abbey Miner tossed in 11 for Marian.
Milledgeville 54, Alden-Hebron 34: At Milledgeville, the Giants (6-17) fell to the Missiles in their nonconference game. Teagan Vanderstappen led A-H with 15 points, Hayden Smith had 12 points and Rileigh Gaddini added seven.
Harvard 53, South Beloit 30: At Harvard, Ava Peceniak tallied 13 points, Summer Jones had 12 and Ana Gomez chipped in eight for the Hornets (15-13) in a nonconference win.
Boys basketball
McHenry 77, Antioch 55: At McHenry, Marko Stojich paced the Warriors (22-4) with 20 points and three 3-pointers in a nonconference win against the Sequoits. Dylan Hurckes and Caleb Jett (four 3s) had 14 points apiece for McHenry and Dane Currie tossed in 11.
Woodstock North 55, Harvard 51: At Woodstock, Colin Brodzik posted a game-high 24 points for the Thunder (4-19, 4-7) in the Kishwaukee River Conference win against the Hornets. Zaiden Vess added 11 points and AJ Cohen tossed in nine for North.
Harvard (4-18, 0-11) was led by Adam Cooke with 16 points. Julian Acosta had 12 points on four 3s, Ryan Bennett had 11 points and DeAndre Keller chipped in 10.
Woodstock 69, Plano 51: At Plano, the Blue Streaks (17-10, 8-3) handed the Reapers a loss in their KRC game. Collin Greenlee had 20 points and six rebounds. Liam Laidig (nine rebounds) and Max Beard (six rebounds) had 14 points each. Joey Nitz scored 10 points.
Sandwich 67, Richmond-Burton 63: At Sandwich, the Rockets (19-8, 6-5) fell to the Indians in KRC play.
Jacobs 54, Mundelein 45: At Mundelein, the Golden Eagles (15-12) defeated the Mustangs in a nonconference game.
