High school sports roundup for Tuesday, Feb. 16

Richmond-Burton remained perfect on the young season with a 41-40 home win Tuesday against Woodstock North in Kishwaukee River Conference boys basketball action.

The Rockets (3-0, 3-0 KRC) turned in a balanced scoring attack. Trent Turner led the way with seven points. Jacob Barthel, Jacob Huber and Blake Volkmar each provided six points.

The loss was the first of the season for North (2-1, 2-1). Justin Ortiz scored 13 points for the Thunder, and Cole Brey had 12 points.

Crystal Lake South 59, Huntley 54: At Huntley, South picked up its first win of the season with the victory over Huntley in Fox Valley Conference competition.

Cooper LePage topped the Gators (1-3, 1-2) with 21 points, Arnav Jain added 15 points, and Jaden Womack provided 11 points. Womack hit three crucial 3s in the second half.

Huntley (1-2, 1-2) was led by Ben Ahmer with 15, Aiden Wieczorek with 12 and Adam Guazzo with 10.

Dundee-Crown 57, McHenry 37: At Carpentersville, Jason Huber hit four 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 21 points in the Chargers’ FVC win.

Hunter Guyan added 11 points for D-C (2-1, 2-1). Josh Harris Terrell Powell each had six points.

Anthony Fowler led the Warriors (1-2, 1-2) with 12 points, and Adam Benton had seven points.

Burlington Central 56, Jacobs 38: At Burlington, the Rockets (4-0, 3-0) got 15 points from Gavin Sarvis and 12 from Carson Seyller as they defeated the Golden Eagles (2-2, 1-2) in their FVC game.

Zach Leahy led Jacobs with 10, while Robert Pennel, Jackson Martucci and James Hayes each scored eight.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Huntley 40, Crystal Lake South 26: At Crystal Lake, Kamsi Nwogu totaled 12 points to lead the Red Raiders to the FVC victory. Raquel Radermacher and Jori Geard each added eight points for Huntley (2-1).

Ava Sevcik, Krees Nunnally and Hanna Massie each scored six points for South (1-2).

Dundee-Crown 37, McHenry 22: At McHenry, Gianine Boado accounted for more than half of her team’s scoring during the Chargers’ FVC win.

Boado hit three 3-pointers and finished 8 of 13 from the free-throw line en route to a game-high 19 points. Alyssa Crenshaw added six points.

Ashley Wachter paced the Warriors (1-2) with 11 points, and Marissa Hanley had five points.

Burlington Central 56, Jacobs 32: At Algonquin, Taylor Charles piled up 13 points and 18 rebounds during the Rockets’ FVC victory.

Elana Wells added 15 points and four assists, Rebecca Carani had nine points, and Avery Andersen had seven points and five rebounds for Burlington (5-0, 3-0).

Cary-Grove 38, Hampshire 26: At Cary, the Trojans earned the FVC win behind 15 points for Lauren Passaglia, who went 7 of 7 from the free-throw line. Emily Lukowski chipped in with 13 points.

Jessica Dumoulin topped Hampshire with 10 points, and Kaitlyn Milison contributed six points.

Woodstock North 55, Richmond-Burton 24: At Woodstock, 10 Thunder players scored during the KRC win over R-B.

Lacey Schaffter led the charge with 15 points. Allison Goers chipped in with nine points, and Collete Jones had eight points.

GIRLS BOWLING

Woodstock 2,241, Johnsburg 1,718: At Kingston Lanes in Woodstock, Ceri Deacon bowled a match-best 537 series with games of 175, 175 and 187 to lead the Blue Streaks.

Alli Fansler (476), Nora Mungle (447) and Gosia Mucha (437) also contributed to Woodstock’s win.

Jess Meyer (386) and Morgan Klos (351) led the way for the Skyhawks.

Marengo 2,304, McHenry 2,083: At Glo Bowl in Marengo, Bethany Christiansen displayed some consistency with games of 180, 177 and 180 for a 537 series during Marengo’s win.

Raina Hellyer (469), Grace Wzientek (461) and Courtney Jasinski (446) rounded out the scoring for the Indians.

Brianna May (509) and Peyton Atwater (440) led the way for McHenry.

BOYS BOWLING

Marengo 3,576, McHenry 2,581: At Glo Bowl in Marengo, Alex Wigman rolled a 634 series to pace the Indians.

Tommy Lulinski (619), Justin Lechner (607) and Chase Vogt (606) rounded out the scoring. Lechner bowled the match’s high game with a 248.

Myles Glab’s 612 series led McHenry, and Alex Animas-Szcpanik had a 502.

Johnsburg 2,808, Woodstock 2,617: At Kingston Lanes in Woodstock, Landon Banaszynski turned in a 544 series to lead the Skyhawks.

Wriglee Bucaro had his team’s high game with a 210 and finished with a 540 series.

For Woodstock, Jacob Piquette bowled a high game of 205 on his way to a 521 series. Brady Caldwell added a 502 series.
