High school baseball: Four local players make IHSBCA All-State

Four local players were named to the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State teams for their respective classes.

Richmond-Burton catcher Hayden Christiansen was picked to the Class 2A All-State team. In Class 3A, Woodstock North’s Felipe DeAvila, Prairie Ridge’s Will Komar and Hampshire’s Dylan Petrey were selected.

Christiansen was a vital part of R-B’s Kishwaukee River Conference and regional championship team, hitting .505 with 11 homers and 47 RBIs for a 25-6 team.

DeAvila hit .500 with a .540 on-base percentage and drove in 15 runs for the Thunder, while scoring 26.

Komar was a force as the leadoff hitter on a team that was Class 3A state runner-up. He hit .420, had a .548 on-base percentage and stole 39 bases in 43 attempts.

Petrey was 6-1 with a 1.41 ERA and a 0.685 WHIP for the Whip-Purs. He also recorded one of the most remarkable ratios ever with 81 strikeouts and two walks in 49 2/3 innings.
