Here is a list of Northwest Herald area athletes who can sign their National Letters of Intent this week with NCAA scholarship schools, and those who are headed to other colleges.

Cary-Grove co-op's Drew Watson won three state medals and set multiple records during a memorable season. The Crystal Lake South junior is the 2023 Northwest Herald Boys Swimmer of the Year.

Hinsdale Central won all three relays – setting state records in all three – in lapping the field to win the IHSA state swimming title on Saturday at Westmont. Also, Oswego Co-Op's Chase Maier took third and Cary-Grove's Danial Sanahurskyj tied for fifth in their races.

Cary-Grove co-op piled up state qualifiers in nine events Saturday to win the Barrington Sectional, while Huntley's Ben Rocks won two sectional titles and helped the Red Raiders make history.

Cary-Grove co-op's boys swimming team ran away with the Fox Valley Conference Invite championship on Saturday, giving the Trojans their 15th FVC title in 16 years.

Here are five boys swimmers to watch in the Northwest Herald area for the 2022-23 season.

Huntley's Gavin Heard won four state championships at the IHSA Boys Swimming and Diving Meet Feb. 26 at FMC Natatorium in Westmont. The Red Raiders senior was voted Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week by readers.

Cary-Grove co-op's Ben Castro captured a fifth-place medal in the 100-yard butterfly and was part of the Trojans' first two relays to place at state. The Crystal Lake Central senior is the 2022 Northwest Herald Boys Swimmer of the Year.

Barrington senior and USC commit Griffin O’Leary won the 100 backstroke title Saturday at the IHSA Swimming and Diving State Meet. Huntley's Gavin Heard won four titles in the AWD Division.

Cary-Grove co-op and Huntley will send a combined seven swimmers to the IHSA Boys Swimming and Diving State Meet at FMC Natatorium in Westmont. The preliminaries start at 3:30 p.m. Friday, with the top 12 in each event moving on to Saturday's finals.

Cary-Grove co-op's Ben Castro, Drew Watson and Kameron Fadden helped lead the Trojans to a second-place finish Saturday at the Stevenson Sectional.

Cary-Grove co-op's boys swimming team swept all three relays and won 9 of 11 events overall to capture their 14th Fox Valley Conference Invite championship in 15 years. C-G co-op's Ben Castro and Huntley's Ben Rocks were named co-Most Valuable Swimmer.

Cary-Grove won four events and took second place at Saturday's 23rd Annual Wild Stallion Jamboree at Elk Grove.
