Cary’s Alfresco Alley returns Friday

A village photo shows outdoor dining as part of Alfresco Alley on Cary's Spring Street over summer 2020.

The outdoor dining strip in downtown Cary known as Alfresco Alley returns this Friday.

Spring Street will be closed starting 7 a.m. Friday from West Main Street to Cary Street, the village said in the alert.

This is the third year for Alfresco Alley, which was created in 2020 after the state restricted indoor dining during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. It allowed some of the village’s downtown restaurants to stay open during that time.

The village Board of Trustees voted to approve the road closure during a meeting earlier this month. The closure would run seven days a week until October.

A streetscape project planned for the fall might cause the alley to close a little earlier this year, according to village documents.
