The Crystal Lake mother who pleaded guilty to murdering her 5-year-old son is seeking post-conviction relief.
Joann Cunningham, who pleaded guilty in December 2019 to first-degree murder and was sentenced in July 2020 to 35 years in prison, filed a post-conviction petition pro se, alleging her constitutional rights were violated, she had ineffectual counsel and she was prescribed psychiatric medication while pregnant, leading to hormonal unbalance.
