A Harvard man is accused of hitting a child causing bruising and swelling, prosecutors say.
Kory L. Myerson, 34, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a child under 13 and four counts of domestic battery, according to the criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court. If convicted, he could face up to 14 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Myerson struck a child “numerous times on the left leg causing swelling, hand impressions, redness and bruising” and grabbed the child “by the face with his hand causing bruising, redness and swelling to the left chin area and ear,” according to the complaint. The complaint also states Myerson struck the child’s face “multiple times” with his hands while yelling, causing bruising to the child’s eye, forehead and cheek.
Myerson was released on pretrial supervision with requirements that he cannot have contact with his two young children, cannot go to his home and must surrender any firearms.
McHenry County Assistant State’s Attorney Anthony Marin originally requested that the judge deny pretrial release for Myerson but later negotiated release terms. Myerson’s next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 14.
