McHenry County Sheriff’s Office accepting applications for deputies

The test required to apply will take place at 8 a.m. July 10 in Woodstock along with a mandatory orientation

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for sheriff’s deputies, it announced in a news release.

A mandatory orientation, followed by the written exam and POWER test, will take place at Woodstock North High School at 8 a.m. July 10, according to the release.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office provide services through its patrol, investigations and special services divisions, according to the release.

The starting salary is $65,916 annually with top pay of $100,317, according to the release. Benefits also include paid holidays, paid vacation time and options for major medical insurance. Deputies must live within McHenry County to be eligible for a take-home car.

The minimum qualifications to apply include be at least 21 years old at hiring, be a high school graduate or have a GED, be a U.S. citizen, possess a valid driver’s license and live in McHenry County or a bordering Illinois county, within one year of hiring, according to the release.

Applications must be submitted along with a $25 non-refundable fee and other required paperwork by 4:30 p.m. June 30 to McHenry County Merit Commission ATTN: Holly Eddy 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098. Checks should be made payable to County of McHenry.
