A Chicago Heights man pleaded not guilty Monday in a McHenry County courtroom to charges alleging that he stabbed a woman in the leg.
Antonio J. Goldaracena, 35, of the 1100 block of Wallace Court, is charged with two counts of aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony; two counts of domestic battery, a misdemeanor; and one count of possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony, according to an indictment filed in the McHenry County courthouse.
On Dec. 26, authorities said Goldaracena stabbed the woman, “a family household member,” in the upper leg, causing a laceration that required four to five staples, according to the indictment.
He also is accused of possessing less than a gram of cocaine, according to the criminal complaint.
If convicted on the possession charge, Goldaracena is eligible for extended sentencing because of a previous conviction, meaning he could be sentenced to between three and six years in prison, according to the indictment.
If convicted on the felony aggravated battery charges, Goldaracena faces two to five years in prison.
He is due back in court March 28.
