McHenry man gets prison sentence tied to child porn allegations

Timothy Marcinko pleaded guilty on Friday to charges of grooming and solicitation of child pornography

A 22-year-old McHenry man was sentenced to prison Friday for seeking pornographic images from a child in 2018.

Timothy Marcinko, of the 6200 block of Longford Drive, accepted an offer from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office on Friday and pleaded guilty to grooming and solicitation of child pornography.

McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge accepted the plea and sentenced Marcinko to four years in prison for the most serious charge, solicitation of child pornography. Marcinko also was sentenced to a conditional discharge and four days in the McHenry County Jail for a single felony count of grooming, court records show.

Prosecutors alleged that in June 2018, Marcinko used the app Discord to communicate with a child and solicit him or her for sex acts, according to court documents.

Investigators found several sexually explicit photos of the child in Marcinko’s possession during the course of the investigation, police said at the time.

In exchange for Marcinko’s plea, prosecutors agreed to dismiss nine additional counts of child pornography charges.

Marcinko remained in custody Monday at the McHenry County Jail.
