Huntley School District 158 named Marcie Marzullo the new principal of Mackeben Elementary School in Algonquin.
Her hire was approved Feb. 10 by the Huntley School District 158′s school board, according to a news release. She’ll take the school’s helm starting for the 2022-23 school year.
She replaces Mackeben current principal, Paula Moan, who will transition to her new role as the director of elementary curriculum at the district’s administrative office at the conclusion of the 2021-22 school year, according to the release.
“We were impressed with Mrs. Marzullo’s passion for students, diverse background and her enthusiasm to continue the culture of excellence that is so apparent at Mackeben,” Superintendent Scott Rowe said in the release.
“We are also immensely thankful to the search committee and to all members of the staff who have worked to support this search process and believe we have truly found the right fit for our families and staff,” Rowe said.
Marzullo served as the principal for Ronald D. O’Neal Elementary School, part of Elgin Area School District U-46, since 2015 where she is credited implementing student-led conferences, introducing inclusive teaching practices and analyzing student data to inform teaching strategies in her previous roles, according to the news release.
She also worked as a bilingual and English as a Second Language program director, an English Language Learner interventionist, literacy instructional coach and special services teacher.
