Woodstock District 200 Education Foundation awards $17,500 in impact grants

After a pause because of the uncertainty of education delivery during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Woodstock District 200 Education Foundation resumed awarding impact grants to district staff this school year.

The foundation awarded about $17,500 to more than 30 staff-submitted proposals, which will be used to fund assemblies, supplies, orchestra camp opportunities, educational games and many other things that do not fit into a traditional budget.

“The foundation is motivated by the thought of helping teachers provide a memorable creative learning experience they might not be otherwise able to achieve,” foundation co-president Jaci Krandel said in a statement. “We are excited at the prospect of offering learning enrichment opportunities for the students and teachers in Woodstock. We are grateful for the community’s support of these efforts.”

The education foundation board is composed of local volunteers, including parents, former staff and community leaders. It has awarded more than $60,000 in impact grants since its inception in 1993.
