According to police investigators, a 1999 Acura TL sedan driven by the Carpentersville man in a northbound lane collided with the 2016 GMC Sierra in the southbound lanes.

The Acura crossed the median for an unknown reason and spun around once in the southbound lane, Huntley Deputy Police Chief Mike Klunk said.

“How it got into the southbound lane, that’s what the investigators are looking at,” he said.

The driver of the Sierra was take to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, according to a news release. No one else was in the Sierra.

He was able to provide statements to police about the incident, Klunk said.

Images from the crash provided by ABC 7 Chicago show the front end of the pickup truck crashed into the driver’s side of a maroon sedan.

The driver’s side of the Acura collided with the front passenger area of the the pickup, Klunk said.

The investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing, authorities said. Drugs and alcohol are not expected to have contributed to the incident, Klunk said.

No citations have been issued in relation to the collision as of Monday evening, he said.
