Motorcyclist killed in Lake in the Hills crash

Multiple motorcycles involved in collision

A man was killed in a crash involving multiple motorcycles just before 11 a.m. Sunday on Virginia Road in Lake in the Hills, according to a Lake in the Hills Police Department news release.

Officers were dispatched to Virginia Road near Pingree Road, where the crash occurred, after one motorcyclist in a group of seven lost control, resulting in a collision involving four vehicles in the group, according to the release.

A bystander and Crystal Lake police performed lifesaving measures on one of the motorcyclists as other emergency responders arrived, Lake in the Hills police said in the release.

One of the motorcyclists was later pronounced dead after being taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital by Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, according to the release.

The man has not been publicly identified because his family had not yet been notified his death as of 5:45 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The cause of the crash is under police investigation and no charges related to the incident had been filed as of Sunday evening, police said in the release.

One of the other motorcyclists was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital and was treated for injuries that were not life threatening and subsequently released, police said.

Two other motorcycles were damaged in the crash, according to the release, but their drivers did not suffer any injuries.
