A 37-year-old Antioch man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a motorcycle-vehicle crash about 2 a.m. Thursday in McHenry, police said.

Steven W. Foulk, 67, of Island Lake, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident following the crash.

McHenry police said in a news relesae Thursday morning that Foulk was driving the gold 2011 Toyota Camry that collided with a gray 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle had collided on Chapel Hill Road, just north of the intersection, according to the release.

The McHenry Police Department and McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded at 2:06 a.m. Thursday to the intersection of Elm Street, which is also Route 120 at that location, and Chapel Hill Road for the crash.

The driver of the motorcycle – the 37-year-old Antioch man – was taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with life-threatening injuries while the driver of the car did not report any injuries.

Earlier reports from the Daily Herald had reported that responding police agencies had said at least one person had died. The McHenry Police Department issued a news release shortly before 11 a.m. saying that was not true.

Both the motorcycle and the car had only the drivers as occupants at the time of the crash, according to the release.

A preliminary investigation at the scene determined the Harley Davidson motorcycle stopped on Chapel Hill Road at the intersection in the center lane, when the Toyota Camry, also southbound, struck the motorcycle from behind, according to the release.

Foulk was taken to the McHenry Police Department where he was processed and later taken to the McHenry County Jail to await a bail bond hearing, according to the release.

The intersection was closed for about 4.5 hours, according to the release.

The crash is being investigated by the McHenry County Regional Crash Assistance Team, which consists of officers from the McHenry, Woodstock, Spring Grove, Harvard, Cary and Johnsburg police departments.

This traffic crash remains under investigation.
