Rotary Club of Cary-Grove awards $18,000 in scholarships to 6 students

The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove awarded a total of $18,000 to six Cary-Grove High School graduates.

The scholarships were made possible by a donation from Tom Decker, a founding member of the club, who stipulated that the donation be used to help further the education of young people.

This year, Julia Vogt and Abby Williams each will receive $6,000 to be used over four years. Vogt plans to major in secondary history education, and Williams plans to study business administration along with design and innovation.

Kaylie Hawn, Delaney Blohm and Jesus Padilla each will receive a one-time award of $1,500. Hawn plans to major in history education, Blohm intends to pursue coursework in biology and medical research, and Padilla plans to enroll in a nursing program.

Mallory Steigman is the inaugural recipient of the Brett Coleman Memorial Scholarship established by the Rotary club in recognition of Coleman’s support of the Rotary Club of Cary-Grove. Steigman plans to major in hospitality management.
