The McHenry County Coroner’s Office identified the driver killed Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in McHenry as 56-year-old Elmhurst woman Christina Smith.

Police do not think drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, which killed Smith and sent another driver to the hospital, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, according to a news release the coroner’s office issued Monday.

The crash happened at 10:24 a.m. in the 4300 block of Route 31. A black GMC was driving north on Route 31 while a white Acura TLX was traveling south, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said at the time.

For unknown reasons, the GMC crossed into the southbound lane of traffic and struck the Acura head on, police said.

The driver of the GMC was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville from Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with serious injuries, according to a news release at the time.
