BYRON - Uptown Lanes hosted the Old Forrester Distilling Co. as part of a whiskey-tasting fundraiser for Court Appointed Special Advocates in cooperation with the Byron Lions Club that raised $5,2000.

Participants tasted their way through a history of the drink as part of the effort that raised money for CASA-15 Judicial Court.

CASA-15 Judicial Court is a not-for-profit volunteer organization that speaks for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the juvenile court system in Ogle, Lee, and Carroll counties. CASA volunteers are screened, trained and then appointed by a judge as guardians. CAS volunteers then appear in front of a judge at court to offer their recommendation for the actions and services that will meet that particular child’s needs.
