Ronald Reagan Birthplace/Museum opening for the season

TAMPICO — The Ronald Reagan Museum Birthplace/Museum, 111 S. Main St., will be opening for the season on Friday. The museum will be open for tours daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays except on Easter and Mothers Day.

Ronald Reagan was born in an upstairs apartment. The apartment has been restored to look very much like it was in 1911 when former Reagan was born. The restored First National Bank, which was open from 1908 until 1930, is located below the birthplace and contains all the original fixtures and many other items of interest from early banking days. Visitors and tour groups are welcome. High school students, as well as others, are encouraged to volunteer at the Museum. For more information, contact Joan Johnson at 815-622-8705.
