Dixon girls tied for No. 1 in Class 3A, Eastland boys top 1A AP rankings

No. 1 Eastland hosts No. 2 Pecatonica Thursday

In the latest Associated Press high school basketball rankings, the 11-0 Dixon girls are tied for the No. 1 spot with Washington (12-0) in Class 3A. The 8-1 Sterling girls are also receiving votes in the 3A poll heading into the winter break.

Rounding out the 3A rankings are No. 3 Mount Vernon (9-1), followed by Belthalto Civic Memorial (10-0), St. Ignatius (9-1), Quincy Notre Dame (7-0), Galesburg (10-1), Montini (8-3) and Morton (8-1) tied for No. 8 and Chicago Heights Marian Catholic (9-1) at No. 10.

The Eastland boys (7-0) jumped No. 2 Pecatonica (5-0) to top the 1A rankings heading into their matchup Thursday for the Eastland tournament title.

Waltonville (8-0) is No. 3 in 1A, followed by Tuscola (8-0), Effingham St. Anthony (7-2), Chicago Fenger (8-1), Casey-Westfield (8-0), Hope Academy (4-4), Annawan (9-0) and Yorkville Christian (7-3).
