No. 2 Dixon girls move to 11-0: Tuesday’s Sauk Valley roundup

Boys basketball

Eastland 68, Rockford Lutheran 50: Parker Krogman led the Class 1A Associated Press second-ranked Cougars (7-0) with 20 points, Payton Spears had 19 and Adam Awender had 14 in the win. Eastland will face top-ranked Pecatonica (5-0) on Thursday for the Eastland tournament title.

Rockford Christian 74, Dixon 62: The Dukes (7-2) trailed 36-34 at halftime, but the Royal Lions used a 22-12 third-quarter swing to take control. Darius Harrington led Dixon with 31 points.

Mercer County 53, Fulton 43: Jacob Voss and Bielenberg each scored 14 points for the Steamers in the loss.

Forreston tournament

Dakota 58, Forreston 46: Connor Politsch had 17 points and Kendall Erdman scored 15 for Forreston, but the Cardinals were unable to come back after trailing 24-14 at halftime.

Warren 48 , Polo 43: JT Stephenson and Mercer Mumford each scored 12 points, and Gus Mumford had 11 for Polo in the loss.

River Ridge 62, Milledgeville 44: Konner Johnson had 16 points but the Missiles fell short. Karter Livengood added 10 points for Milledgeville.

Girls basketball

Dixon 42, Sycamore 31: The Class 3A second-ranked Duchesses improved to 11-0 after the road win. Hallie Williamson led Dixon with 21 points and had seven rebounds. Ahmyrie McGowan had eight rebounds and five steals to go with four points for Dixon.

Polo tournament

Newman 63, Earlville 14: Veronica Haley and Lucy Oetting each had 14 points as the Comets advanced to the Polo tournament final. They will play River Ridge/Scales mound on Thursday at 7 p.m.

River Ridge/Scales Mound 51, Polo 38: Polo was outscored 20-12 in the first quarter and was unable to overcome the deficit at the Polo tournament. Carlee Grobe led the Marcos with nine points. Polo will play Milledgeville for third on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Boys wrestling

Morrison tops Alleman, Winnebago: The Mustangs took down Alleman 72-12 and Winnebago 61-12. Recording pins in both matches were Patrick Schaefer, Zach Milder, Brady Anderson and Noah Stout.

Oregon wins two: The Hawks had a big win over Rochelle 41-34 and beat Dakota 54-22 in triangular action. Levi Benton scored a 19-2 technical fall against Dakota and a pin against Rochelle for Oregon.

Polo splits with Rock Falls, Orion: Polo beat Rock Falls 39-30 and fell to Orion 39-33 in triangular action. Lucas Nelson and Christian Ryia each had pins in both duals for Polo. For the Rockets, Scottie Hampton, Logan Thome and Logan Williamson had wins by pin against Polo.

Boys bowling

Dixon 3,590, Christian Life 1,862: Dixon improved to 7-0 as Wyatt Miller led the team with a 719 and David Laird had the high game of 288.

Girls bowling

Dixon 2,751, Kewanee 1,947: Addison Cox led the Duchesses with a 577 series and personal best 221 game.
