Boys basketball

Taylorville tournament

Sterling 62, Taylorville 41: Kaedon Phillips led Sterling with 22 points as the Golden Warriors marched on. Maddux Osborn (17) and Nico Battaglia (10) also reached double figures.

Sterling 65, Jacksonville 60: The Golden Warriors advanced to the tournament championship against Rochester on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Erie-Prophetstown tournament

Newman 60, Stark County 43: John Rowzee (15 points) and Evan Bushman (13) led the Comets in the first round win. Newman led 19-6 after the first quarter and 35-14 at halftime.

Lena-Winslow 68, Newman 61: Bushman’s 24 points led Newman in the loss. Rowzee also had 14 for the Comets.

Kewanee 59, Morrison 52: Dawson Hepner and Asher Ernst led Morrison with 13 points each.

Orion 61, Morrison 53: Brayden Rubright led the Mustangs with 15 points and Hepner scored 14 in the loss.

Forreston 60, Fulton 40: Kendall Erdmann led Forreston with a game-high 30 points, hitting five 3-pointers, in the win. Jacob Voss led Fulton with 20 points.

Forreston 61, Riverdale 56: Brendan Greenfield had 19 points for the Cardinals in the win as Forreston advanced to face Lena-Winslow in the semifinals.

Teutopolis tournament

Dixon 57, Lawrenceville 49: Darius Harrington went 14-for-17 at the free throw line and led Dixon with 36 points in the win. Eli Davidson also had 10 points.

Dixon 65, Charleston 56: Harrington continued his strong play with 35 points and 13 rebounds in the win.

Effingham 57, Oregon 45: Nole Campos, Cooper Johnson and Tucker O’Brien all scored 11 points for Oregon in the loss. The Hawks were outscored 19-4 in the fourth quarter.

Newton 50, Oregon 45: Landon Anderson had 14 points and seven rebounds in the Oregon loss.

State Farm Classic

Rock Falls 72, Winnebago 59: Kuitim Heald (19 points) and Ryken Howard (16) led the scoring charge for the Rockets in the win. Rock Falls will face Eastland Saturday at 11 a.m. in the small school consolation semifinals.

Eastland 72, Kankakee Bishop McNamara 54: Parker Krogman scored 22 points, Zy Haverland had 15, Adam Awender had 13 and Peyton Spears scored 12 in the win.

LaMoille tournament

Galva 37, Amboy 31: Amboy’s Quinn Leffelman had 12 points and Ezra Parker had 10 in the setback. The Clippers will play for third place on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Girls basketball

State Farm Classic

Rockford Lutheran 51, Rock Falls 26: Elizabeth Lombardo scored nine points and Miley Bickett had seven in the loss.

KSB Holiday Classic

Lincoln 54, Eastland 32: Sienna Peterson (13) and Olivia Klinefelter (12) led the Eastland scoring in the setback.

E-P tournament

BV’s Haage sets record: Bureau Valley junior Kadyn Haage set the school record with seven made 3-pointers as she scored 25 points in a 62-57 loss to Hall. The Storm also fell 52-42 to Rockridge.

Girls bowling

Sterling’s Doughty places fourth: Sterling took 12th out of 21 teams at the Mid-State Tournament in Peoria. Sarah Doughty took home a fourth-place medal after rolling a 1,229 series.
