Bicyclists ring in new year with annual ride in Dixon

Deb Mellen waves as she heads off Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, for the annual New Year's Day ride.

A hearty group of riders rang in the new year and braved the chill to embark on the 35th annual New Year’s Day bike ride in Dixon. On the ride first begun by BJ Fenwick, bicyclists left the former Green River Cyclery on Wednesday, Jan. 1, and rode the bike path to Lowell Park and back before meeting for lunch at a local establishment. Two such riders, Kelly Jackson and Jason Howlett, have recently purchased Green River, which they will rename Tortoise Multisport. The ride was dedicated to Fenwick, who is battling health concerns and was unable to make the ride.
