Name: Jack Ragan
School: Dixon
Sport: Wrestling
Why he was selected: He took first place at 113 pounds at Wheaton-Warrenville South’s Ewoldt Tournament on Dec. 18 as Dixon finished in second place. It was one of four first-place tournament finishes for Ragan in December.
Dixon wrestling coach Micah Hey says Ragan, a returning state qualifier, is a wrestler that all coaches love to have on their team.
“He’s very coachable and gives 100% at all times. He has a strong work ethic and positive attitude both on and off the mat,” Hey said. “In the history of Dixon High School wrestling, he is one of five wrestlers to make it to state as a freshman.”
Ragan has continued to work in the off-season and is 20-0 as a sophomore.
“He participates in camps, clubs, and tournaments that contribute to his success. I don’t even want to know the Ragan car mileage with all the wrestling events. His parents' support is a huge part of his success as well.”
Ragan and Dukes hope to win a regional championship and make it to state as a team.
Ragan is the Sauk Valley Athlete of the Week in an online vote.
