Morrison waiving January utility bill late fees after postal service delay

MORRISON – There will be no late fees or penalties applied to the January utility bills for city of Morrison accounts that are otherwise in good standing.

The announcement was made in a news release Wednesday from City Administrator Brian Melton. The city has confirmed with the U.S. Postal Service that utility bills are currently in circulation. Those who do not receive their utility bill by Jan. 8 should receive it soon.

“On behalf of the city of Morrison, I apologize for any inconvenience, hardship or confusion that may have been caused by the delayed delivery,” Melton said in a news release. “We certainly strive to serve our community to the best of our abilities.”

City of Morrison utility bills are due on the 15th of each month, and that due date does not change. If it falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date moves to the next regular business day for City Hall.

The city also offers residents online utility bill services at morrisonil.frontdeskgworks.com. Once they register their account, residents can pay their bills online, choose to receive their utility bill by email instead of by USPS and set up their online bill for auto-pay.

Those without a computer can use the one provided for public access at City Hall, 200 W. Main St., where staff can assist in setting up an online account. City Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 815-772-7657.
