Oregon wrestling wins Polo invite: Saturday’s Sauk Valley roundup

Oregon wins Polo invite: Oregon won the 17-team Polo invite with 217.5 points, edging runner-up Fulton’s 212. West Carroll (104.5) took fourth, Polo (89.5) was eighth and E-P (65) was 10th among area teams.

Area champions included Oregon’s Josiah Perez (113 pounds), Boone Alderks (120) and Nelson Benesh (132), E-P’s Aidan Jepson (138) and Caleb Reymer (285), West Carroll’s Connor Knopp (144) and Jonner Smith (150), and Fulton’s Skylier Crooks (165), Mason Kuebel (175) and Jeff Kane (190).

Girls basketball

Dixon 57, Rockford Lutheran 30: The Duchesses (16-3, 3-0) picked up a Big Northern Conference road win for their second straight victory.

North Boone 46, Rock Falls 32: The Rockets lost their eighth straight game following the road setback.

Northwest Illinois Shootout

Eastland 41, Pearl City 36: Morgan McCullough led Eastland with 16 points, with Olivia Klinefelter and Sienna Peterson each scoring nine for the Cougars.

Amboy 40, Dakota 33: Addison Pertell led Amboy with 14 points and Tyrah Vaessen added 10 more in the win.

Boys basketball

Oregon 60, Morrison 47: Nole Campos led Oregon with 17 points and Cooper Johnson scored 15 more in the win. Asher Ernst led Morrison with 19 points.

Forreston 58, Milledgeville 41: Conner Politsch and Kendall Erdmann led Forreston with 13 points apiece, and Brendan Greenfield scored 10 in the win. Micah-Toms Smith led the Missiles with 17 points.

Rock Falls 85, Alleman 53: The Rockets bounced back from Friday’s loss by scoring a season-high in the home win.
