BYRON – No one was injured Wednesday afternoon when a small plane made an emergency landing in a field near Byron.
”We had a report of a plane crash at the west end of Stub Road north of Byron,” said Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle. “We arrived on scene and found an airplane that had made an emergency landing in the field and the pilot was nowhere to be found.”
The name of the pilot was obtained by the sheriff’s department through the plane’s tail number — an alphanumeric code painted on the tail or rear fuselage of the plane that identifies the aircraft.
“We made contact with him in the Dixon area. He was uninjured,” VanVickle said referring to the pilot.
